Columbus’ Corporate Duathlon
Along the beautiful Alum Creek beach, the first annual Challenge Columbus corporate duathlon began as the sun rose over the water. With 13 teams and 7 individuals competing, this competition was fierce as each team and individual vied for one of the three categories of awards available.
The duathlon began with a 5k run through Alum Creek State Park on an out and back course. Most of the entries were from corporate teams. When their first team member returned from the first leg, the runner would hand off the ankle strap to their teammate who would begin leg two-a 20k bike ride. The second leg participant was able to enjoy a beautiful bike ride around the Alum Creek Dam taking in all the surrounding areas of the park. After the bike leg was completed, the final participant in the team began their own leg of the duathlon, one last 5k run/walk through the park.
Our individual participants were able to challenge themselves to complete all aspects of the course, and not a single one regretted that choice with this beautiful course.
Once all aspects of the event (5k run, 20k bike and 5k run) were completed by our participants/teams, final leg participant finished their journey at the beach with finish line photos, refreshments and encouragement from other teammates, participants, volunteers and staff.
