Gahanna school teams dominated the opening weekend of the 2024 cross country season in Whitehall, Ohio. High and middle school teams from throughout Central Ohio ran in the Dan Reid XC Invitational. This meet was held at the very beautiful Whitehall Community Park.
The first teams off were the high school boys and girls starting around 9:00 am and 9:30 am repectively. Morning temperatures were warm but it was about to get a lot hotter for the middle school kids who would be off at 11:00 am and 11:30 am.
Right from the start, Gahanna-Lincoln boys team set the pace by placing 8 runners in the top 10! The event was was won by Own Towler in a time of 16:23. Gahanna won the team title with a score of 19 points. For those who know cross country, 15 points is perfect.

Next up were the high school girls. Not to be outdone, the girls team did even better than the boys, placing 9 runners in the top 10. They easily won the team title with 17 points. One runner from Bexley who finished 4th stopped them from finishiing perfect.

The last two races of the day were the middle school races. With no exception here though the competition was a bit closer, Gahanna East Middle School boys and girls winning their respective events. The was stome stellar competition at this meet, teams such as Watkins MS, Columbus Academy MS, Wellington, Grandview Heights Larson, Columbus School for Girls and Reynoldsburg were in attendance.
