The Monster Dash 5k took place on Saturday October 28, 2023 at Glacier Ridge Metro Park. The event was produced and timed by Speedy Sneakers Racing with it’s charity partner being the United Way of Union County.
The day started off a bit gloomy with clouds and threats of rain, but warm. The temperatures hovered in the lower 50’s, but felt really like it was in the 60’s. this was certainly pleasant. The heavy rain stayed away with only an occasional drizzle. This didn’t dampen any of the enthusiasm of the participants who seems to have aot of fun. Many were cheering each other on to the finish.
This year there seemed to be a fantastic assortment of costumes of all kinds. Both young and old wore their favorites. You would think the costumes would be an hinderance to the performance of the runners. Not so, right near the front was a running hotdog and banana, which was truly amazing!
This year was the 3rd year for this concept at Glacier Ridge Metro Park and a new event record over slightly over 230 runners and walkers. We are grateful to all who came and participants with us.
