State Track Meet Moving to Dayton

The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) has announced this week that the 2024 track and field state tournament will be held at Welcome Stadium in Dayton. The track at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium at The Ohio State University will be replaced with a new track that will take several months to complete.

Welcome Stadium previously hosted the tournament from 1999-2003 and recently underwent a $34 million renovation project. The tournament will return to Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in 2025 and 2026 to complete the current three-year contract.

Dayton Public Schools Interim Superintendent Dr. David Lawrence expressed excitement and honor in hosting the 2024 State Track Tournament at Welcome Stadium. The renovations at Welcome Stadium have impressed the Ohio High School Athletic Association, and they are grateful for the timing of the construction projects. Unfortunately, Ohio State will not be able to host the 2024 State Track Meet due to track replacement construction but looks forward to hosting in 2025 and beyond.
